Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Oregon, IL location.
Key Accountabilities- Work in a safe manner and abide by all Covia and MSHA safety rules, regulations and best practices.
- Be physically capable of performing job duties of a General laborer.
- Be capable of walking on uneven ground and up and down hills.
- Be capable of climbing ladders and working at height.
- Be capable of wearing a respirator, safety harness, safety glasses, hard hat and other Personal Protective Equipment.
- Be capable of working in year‑round outdoor conditions which include hot, cold and wet weather.
- Be capable of working on all production shifts, which include 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts. This is a union environment and junior employees are assigned to the least desirable position on the least desirable shift.
- Be capable of push, pull, lift and carry 50 pounds on a continuous basis.
- Be capable of shoveling on a continuous basis.
- Be capable of being trained to operate stationary and mobile equipment in a harsh quarry environment.
- Knowledge of operating mobile equipment or maintenance practices is desirable.
- Be capable of reading and understanding safety warnings, safety procedures and written job instructions.
- Be capable of completing other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 2–3 years of experience required.
