Machinist Internship - Oregon, IL

Duties and Responsibilities

* Set up and operate various types of machine tools such as lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, etc., selecting proper feeds and speeds

* Work from drawings, sketches and verbal instructions to make components

* Work to close tolerances

* Use precision measuring instruments to check accuracy of work

* Perform hand operations such as filing, fitting, tapping, etc.

* Keep work area and equipment clean

* Ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization.

* And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Must be an active student enrolled in a machinist program at an accredited college

* Mechanical aptitude

* Basic mathematic skills

* Some knowledge of precision measuring devices preferred

* Some knowledge of reading blueprints, sketches, and engineering drawings preferred

* Some knowledge of Machine Shop practices is a plus

* Attention to detail a must

* Safety minded
