Civil and Forest Engineering Technician Internship – Student Worker
This is a temporary full‑time internship position running from May through September.
An intern will partner with the Umpqua National Forest to provide technical support for a range of projects in timber management, restoration, transportation, recreation, and facilities. They will work with the Engineering Group on transportation and facilities projects, gaining exposure to civil engineering disciplines.
COMPENSATION- Hourly Rate, GS 4‑1: $17.45
- Housing and Living Allowance: $4,500
- Boot Reimbursement: $450 Maximum
- Education/Training Reimbursement: $650 Maximum
Engineers in the Forest Service provide technical support for a variety of projects. The intern will support transportation and facilities projects and participate in the Umpqua training plan.

Students who complete 640 hours of internship may qualify to apply as internal candidates for US Forest Service positions.
ELIGIBILITY- UCC Student:
Minimum of 6 credits in quarter either prior to or during internship. Tuition and fee reimbursement covers 6 credits of Cooperative Work Experience. - Educational Pathway:
Preference for candidates with emphasis in engineering technologies, engineering, forest engineering, surveying, or related fields. - Oregon Driver’s License:
Required unless medical condition prevents licensing.

Preference will be given only if the applicant meets the minimum qualifications for the position and electronically attaches the required documentation at the time of application.
- Member Copy 4 of the Certificate of Release or Discharged from Active Duty (DD Form 214 or 215).
- Letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs including receipt of a non‑service‑connected pension. Disabled veterans must also submit a copy of their Veterans Disability Preference Letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs.
