JOB PURPOSE or

JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Maintenance Technician’s primary responsibility is facility preventative maintenance, repair, and custodial duties and to work as a cross functional team member with department associates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responds to and prioritizes requests from JEM associates for department or individual assistance.
  • Demonstrates leadership and sound judgment in representing JEM and the Operations department.
  • Completes work on a timely basis. Attends and participates in department meetings.
  • Inspects and cares for interior and exterior of buildings and other structures on a regular basis to
  • determine needed maintenance and repairs.
  • Cleans machining equipment using cleaning solvents, cloths, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Completes minor HVAC, painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
  • Inspects and cares for equipment on a regular basis to determine needed maintenance and repair.
  • Performs electrical maintenance, such as replacing and repairing electrical fixtures, and plumbing.
  • Maintenance, such as replacing and repairing leaking faucets.
  • Schedules and works with contractors, including electricians and plumbers, on a routine and emergency basis.
  • Demonstrates leadership and sound judgment in representing JEM.
  • Installs modular offices to accommodate JEM associates. Inspects and cares for office furniture on a regular basis.
  • Safely uses and maintains appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools.
  • Inventories machine parts and supplies. Purchases hardware, tools, and other supplies within budget through local stores or JEM purchasing department.
  • Removes snow and adds salt to entrances and exits of JEM facilities during the winter.
  • Serves as a key member of the Safety Committee.
  • Promotes safe work practices throughout JEM. Provides updates and training to JEM associates regarding safe work practices when needed.
  • Focuses on the continuous improvement in the areas of facilities maintenance.
  • Safely operates forklift.
  • Complies with all JEM policies and procedures, including ISO, OSHA, and AWAIR requirements.
  • Supports JEM’s mission and mission and exemplifies JEM’s core values daily.
  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hand to finger, handle, or feel; and required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include chose vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Maintains forklift certification.
