Intermediate Bridge CAD Designer

Location: Whitby

We are looking for Intermediate Bridge CAD Designers to join our growing Canadian Operations within the Transportation Group. This role is intended for intermediate Bridge CAD technicians looking to continue their career in the design of transportation structures for municipalities, MTO, IO, and major transportation partners.

This role can be based in any of our GTA offices – Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, Whitby – as well as the Waterloo office.

Responsibilities

Taking engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizing them into working drawings. In this role you will develop working drawings from equipment specifications, engineering notes, sketches, and detailed drawings, ensuring they meet company and industry standards and codes.

Working as part of a team and providing project design support, including mentorship and guidance to Junior staff.

Collaboration in large and small teams. Communicating with other teams (highways, civil, electrical, geotechnical, etc.), sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, other team members, and clients.

Experience in design delivery within conventional and design-build project models is considered an asset.

Apply technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes such as CSA, and MTO Standard Details.

Exposure or desire to learn using visualization software platforms (Infraworks, etc.) and design programming (Dynamo, etc.) are considered assets but not required.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in relevant design for bridges and related steel/concrete structures.

Experience in bridge rehabilitation techniques and methodologies.

Proficiency in REVIT, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley, and Project Wise.

The ability to work in large multi-discipline teams and collaborate across regions.

Diploma in Structural Technology or related field from an accredited institution.

Ability to work independently and provide direction to other members of a Project Team.

Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $62,895 - $104,869. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
