Responsibilities
According to the updated standards and current scope of practice as set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario and the policies of Lakeridge Health, the RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients whose conditions are stabilized; administer treatments as ordered by physicians and assigned by Patient Care Manager or Patient Care Specialist; observe and enforce infection control principles and aseptic techniques required;
and perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college
Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Current B.C.L.S.
Knowledge and experience caring for Nephrology patients, preferred
Proven related and effective experience in an Oncology Unit or similar environment and evidence of continuing education courses related to the requirements of position
Current certificate in Medication Administration
Updated nursing skills including Aseptic Techniques and Patient Assessment courses
Demonstrated problem-solving and teaching skills
Proven effective communication and interpersonal skills
Proven sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy
Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable length of time
Demonstrated adherence and support to the customer focus/patient centred philosophy
Ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations
Ability to lift, turn, and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids
Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario
Demonstrated ability to work at full scope of practice according to the CNO guidelines
Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions
Conditions of Employment
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and C.U.P.E Local 6364. Successful external applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months. New Lakeridge Health team members will be required to complete a Pre-employment Health Assessment as a condition of employment.
