SBA is currently accepting resumes for an Intermediate Structural Engineer/Designer on our Structural team. We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong technical background in structural engineering pertaining to buildings and bridges to join our team full-time in this new position. Working at SBA can be a fast-paced environment that requires collaboration and engagement from multiple disciplines throughout project development.
The successful candidate should be a self-starter, have exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills. They should be willing to travel on occasion to visit communities across Canada and hold meetings with clients and/or community members. SBA provides a hybrid role, with required travel to client site and office as requested.
Responsibilities
Designing structural components for civil infrastructure, buildings, facilities, and bridges, and culverts utilizing SAP
2000, Robot, AutoCAD and Revit.
Preparing conceptual and detailed designs, calculations, layouts, and specifications.
Completing and prioritizing multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
Providing input on proposals, feasibility studies, designs, and other assignments.
Leading the development and implementation of engineering procedures and standards.
Perform and/or oversee in-person inspections at project sites, and documenting results, as required.
Guiding and mentoring junior engineering staff/students.
Qualifications
Civil Engineering Degree with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience.
Previous design and structural analysis experience regarding buildings, bridges and/or culverts.
Design experience with structural engineering materials such as concrete, steel, and timber.
Experience in working for municipalities, First Nations, and/or private sector clients.
Eligible or active membership with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Certified as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is considered an asset.
Excellent knowledge of Canadian and Ontario design codes, CSA standards and guidelines.
Strong English, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong time-management skills and self-initiative to meet deadlines.
Client and government approval process, experience and/or exposure is considered an asset.
