This salary range reflects the expected starting salary based on qualifications and experience. This is not the full salary range for the position. Opportunities for growth within the full salary range are available in alignment with organizational policies and individual / organizational performance.

About The Role:

The Translation Services Manager is a member of HSO’s Communications team and works with the Director of Communications. The Communications team supports enterprise-wide priorities including standards development, client communications, and corporate communications by ensuring clear, consistent, and high-quality content across both official languages.
As part of a centralized translation function, the Translation Services Manager provides leadership and oversight to deliver efficient, high-quality translation and interpretation services across the organization, primarily between Canadian French and English, while also supporting additional languages such as Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and Dutch to meet diverse organizational needs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Translation team, including performance management, coaching, and workload allocation.
- Oversee intake, prioritization, and delivery of translation and interpretation requests across the organization.
- Ensure high-quality, consistent translations across formats, including documents, video captions, graphics, online education modules, and digital client portals.
- Manage external vendors and optimize use of internal and outsourced resources to balance cost, quality, and timelines.
- Advise business units on translation strategies and support planning for major initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement of translation workflows, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Must Have
Qualifications:
- Fluently bilingual in English and French (written and oral).
- Five years of demonstrated expertise leading teams for success in a complex, multi-interest-holder environment, especially for translation services.
- Five years of progressive experience with quality assurance, and delivery of translation services.
- Demonstrated experience with AI-assisted translation tools e.g. Logiterm, and post editing practices.
- Practical experience implementing standardized workflows, triaging competing priorities and managing large volume translation project deliverables.
- University degree or college diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. translation studies, linguistics, communications, public administration, or equivalent).
Desired
Qualifications:
- Formal linguistic credentials and certifications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of translation terminology management and translation memory, and vendor oversight.
- Experience working in health care, standards development, accreditation, or public sector environment.
- Strong client and vendor relationship management expertise.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
- Familiarity with translating other languages beyond English and French (especially, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, Dutch).
