Live-In Maintenance Technician

We are currently seeking a Live‑In Property Maintenance Technician to join the team at Avalon Park, a vibrant, family‑oriented residential community in Ottawa’s St.Laurent neighbourhood, just east of downtown. This hands‑on role is well‑suited for a dependable individual who takes pride in their work and enjoys contributing to a community of more than 800 residents. As a live‑in team member, you’ll support day‑to‑day maintenance operations and help ensure shared spaces remain modern, well‑maintained and welcoming for residents.

- Responding to routine and urgent maintenance requests from residents in a timely and professional manner.
- Performing general maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to building systems, suites, and common areas.
- Support the ongoing upkeep and safe operation of property amenities, fixtures, and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and repairs.
- Assist with seasonal property operations, including landscaping and snow removal.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and safe.
- Work collaboratively with site staff, management, and external vendors as required.
- Adhere to all workplace health & safety policies and report safety hazards to management.
- 1+ years of experience in property maintenance, building operations, or facilities support role.
- Must have basic tools necessary to complete work.
- General understanding of residential building systems (e.g., kitchen & bathroom fixtures, doors, appliances, lighting).
- Comfortable working both independently and part of a team.
- Physically capable of performing routine manual tasks, including bending, kneeling, lifting, and extended periods of walking.
- Functional English verbal communication skills.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check.
- Ability to provide professional references and a proven record of reliable work attendance.
- All work will be completed at Avalon Park; located at 2470 Southvale Crescent, Ottawa.
- The ideal candidate lives close enough to Avalon to respond quickly to emergency resident inquiries (within about 10–15 minutes).
- This role requires participation in an on‑call rotation schedule.
Final compensation for this role will be determined based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and other job‑related requirements.
