Position: Evening Shift Maintenance Worker (FT)

Work Schedule:

M-F 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm / 30min meal break

PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • A. Maintains work environment that provides maximum safety and health.

    Reports unsafe conditionsandinjuries/illnesses and incidentsinatimelymannerandperformsdutiesusing safe work techniques in accordance with OSHA safety and health standards.
  • B. Performsallassignedtasks inaprofessionalmannertoreflect the highest integrityofthe Facilities Department.

    Follows schedule as assigned by the Lead Maintenance Worker and/or Facilities Manager.

    Reports the status of job assignments daily to the Lead Maintenance Worker.
  • C. Assists inmaintaininganadequateinventoryofstock itemssuchasplumbingsupplies, wood, electrical and equipment parts
  • D. Performs requisitioned, corrective, emergency and preventative maintenance tasks of electrical distribution, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing and building structures as required. Maintainsrecordsofmaintenancerepairs.

    Maintenance Workerswillrespondtoemergencyrepair calls.
  • E. Assistsinreplacing,installing,repairingandtestingelectricalcircuits,equipment,appliances and lighting systems as required.
  • F. Diagnosessystemmalfunctionsonmechanicaland electrical equipment.

    Repairsorreplacesdefective parts as necessary.
  • G. Performsmanualdutiesasrequested(i.e.,movingsuppliesorfurniture,replacing light bulbs, painting,carpentry, parking & traffic control, removing trash or scrap material).
  • H. Readsand interprets blueprints,schematics,and specifications.
  • I. Maintainsalltoolsandequipment andkeepsthe maintenanceshopinacleanandorderly condition.
  • J. Abilitytodoworkonhis/herownwithonlyminimal supervision.
  • L. Shall perform Groundkeeperdutiesasoccasionally assigned.
  • N. Performsotherrelateddutiesasshallbeassignedon occasion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • D. Hands-on technical experience in one or more functional areas (electrical, mechanical, woodwork,etc.)
  • E. Abilitytoread and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructionsandproceduremanuals.

    Abilitytowriteroutinereportsandcorrespondence.
  • F. Abilitytoadd, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, commonfractionsanddecimals.

    Abilitytocomputerate,ratioandpercent andto drawand interpret simple graphs.
  • H. Abilitytoreadandinterpretblueprints,schematics,and drawings.
  • I. Abilitytorepairmechanical/electrical equipment and plumbing.
  • J. Abilitytounderstandandfollowcomplex instructions.
  • K. Skillintheuseofbasichandtoolsand testing equipment.
  • L. Provideshospitableservicetostudents,faculty,visitors,and staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Heavy physical effort is required.

While performing the duties ofthis job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear,handle, and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists.

May need to climb stairs and ladders; lift,carry, push and/or pull items up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to respond effectively to emergency situations. Frequent prolonged standing/walking, push/pull or move/lift heavy equipment and supplies; manual dexterity and mobility with occasional reaching, stooping,bending, kneeling, and crouching; specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
