This role will give you the opportunity to:
- Ensure project compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Assist in the production of HVAC and plumbing system deliverables (Specifications, drawings, calculations, and basis of design documents) for new buildings as well as for renovation and additions to existing facilities.
- Actively coordinate with other disciplines, clients, and contractors on projects.
- Oversee the creation and analysis of project energy modeling and life cycle cost analysis utilizing Trace 3D and BLCC.
- Oversee creation of 2D drawings (such as P&IDs, control diagrams, and notes) in REVIT.
- Perform construction period services (review of submissions, responses to RFIs, etc.).
- Continuously learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and company policies and procedures. Apply to assigned tasks as appropriate.
- Develop and independently apply knowledge. Comply with the quality program relative to assigned tasks. Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Prepare a variety of increasingly complex engineering deliverables. Perform research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection. Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work. Prepare increasingly complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles. Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements. May recognize, define and resolve problems within the assigned area. May provide direction and guidance to others.
- Assign tasks to develop entry-level professionals and interns. Coordinate with project leadership and other internal/external team members on less complex projects. Interact as needed with other disciplines on details of design work.
- Work to understand external client's interests and drivers through regular interaction and communication. Also focus on needs of internal clients and project leadership. May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
- Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
- Assist with performance management process, recognition, and corrective actions as skills develop. Actively mentor entry-level professionals and interns.
Assigned to projects for U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of building mechanical codes and ability to perform accurate load calculations.
- Intermediate HVAC / Plumbing design capability in industrial, commercial, central plants, boilers, chillers and other related markets.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred design experience related to any of the following subject matters:
- Federal industry experience.
- European, General MILCON, or Civil Works project experience.
- Building Controls Systems Design / Building Automation.
- CFD modeling.
Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering from either a recognized accredited program in the home country or the country in which the professional is practicing. Minimum of 1 year related work experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (including a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Work Environment / Physical Demands- Position requires working in a typical office environment. Involves prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, with focus on detail throughout the workday. May also require physical tasks during site visits, including crouching, grasping, and standing/walking for extended periods.
