Job Summary

Functions in an engineering capacity supporting Substation design. Under close supervision, performs routine aspects of engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to prescribed techniques and procedures to complete project assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in producing electrical engineering deliverables, like reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Develop familiarity with departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with the Black & Veatch quality program.
  • Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Contribute to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
  • Perform routine research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
  • Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work.
  • Prepare basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
  • Understand and adhere to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Share information with others as requested.
  • Coordinate with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
  • Focus on the needs of internal clients (project team leadership) while attempting to gain basic understanding of external client’s main interests and drivers.
  • May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
  • Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Coursework and knowledge of substation design.
  • Previous internship experience.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
  • Insight into industry trends and developing technology.
  • Fundamental knowledge of construction practices and principles.
  • Skilled in problem solving, written communication, informing, and peer relationships.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred or any other degree, specialized training, or experience that makes the individual uniquely qualified to perform the job responsibilities. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

Compensation

Hourly compensation range: $34.25 - $39.66
