RoleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join the ECMS – Medical Specialities teams within the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This post is a Charge Nurse based within ward 11 – Acute Medicine/Respiratory.
As a Charge Nurse within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will play a vital leadership role in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care within a busy respiratory ward environment. You will assess, plan and evaluate care for patients with complex needs, while supporting and developing a dedicated nursing team. You will work collaboratively with a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure seamless patient journeys from admission to discharge.

- Rotational day and night shifts
- Provide clinical leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
- Support and supervise nursing staff, acting as a role model to ensure high standards of practice.
- Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse, ensuring effective ward management and service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and compliant patient records in line with NMC and organisational standards.
- Lead on staff development, including appraisal, mentorship and creating a positive learning environment.
- Ensure effective use of resources, including staffing, equipment and budget considerations.
- Work collaboratively with the multi‑disciplinary team to deliver coordinated, patient‑centred care.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and significant post‑registration experience.
- Significant recent experience within a respiratory or acute medical setting.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to learning.
- Strong leadership, organisational and time‑management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients and staff.
- Sound clinical knowledge and ability to deliver and supervise complex care.
- Good IT skills and understanding of electronic patient records and clinical systems.
