We are seeking a Lead, Accounting to join the Program Accounting function within the ISR Sector, reporting to the ISR Sector Controller. This role has responsibility for various Program Accounting functions of the divisions within the Sector, serving as the primary accounting contact for ensuring accuracy of program related accounting information, including revenue, balance sheet, and revenue related reporting. Specific responsibilities include accounting for revenue recognition evaluation, inventory, and monitoring estimate at completion profit rate changes, and other necessary tasks to ensure accurate project accounting.
The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, combined with a strong technical accounting background.
- Completion of complex Contract Review Worksheets (CRWs) used to determine revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Review project and contract setup in the ERP.
- Completion of quarterly inventory net realizable value (NRV) assessments for both contract and non-contract inventory.
- Preparation of the quarterly income statement flux report, explaining in detail the quarterly changes in various line items.
- Preparation of quarterly estimate-at-completion (EAC) profit change reporting.
- Review of EACs for compliance to corporate accounting policies and US GAAP.
- Must have strong analytical Excel skills and be able to analyze and work with large data sets in an effective manner.
- Calculation and preparation of supporting documentation for monthly accruals, including all program-related accruals such as warranty accruals and adjustments.
- Preparation of program-related monthly and quarterly Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) schedules required for external financial reporting.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements.
- Preparation of ad-hoc reporting and assistance with special projects, as requested.
- Support audits (External Audit, Internal Audit, and SOX and Self Evaluation Testing).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree in Accounting and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in a fast-paced close process with multiple, often competing, deadlines.
- Minimum 5 years experience with facilitating internal and external audits.
- Must be a US citizen.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Prior experience in public accounting or internal audit.
- Experience with Costpoint ERP or SAP S4/Hana.
- Experience with HFM.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional organizational skills, enabling monitoring of key due dates and activities.
- Flexible planner in terms of daily activities with ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong customer service approach, self-directed, assertive, with a positive attitude.
- Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous groups and individuals.
