Position: Cash Applications/Payment Applications Specialist - Healthcare

Job Description

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for posting payments, adjustments and denials as well balancing receipts for clients assigned. The balancing is required in a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Essential Functions and Job Duties:

1. Payment posting of commercial insurance eob's, ERAs, personal payments, credit card payments and insurance denials

2. Maintaining and balancing deposit log for assigned clients

3. Calling payers to obtain Explanation of Payments

4. Notifying Cash Applications Manager when payment posting issues are identified

5. Maintaining average transactions of 600-800 or higher daily

6. Backup for clerical functions within the department

7. Other responsibilities as assigned by Cash Applications Manager

Specific Functions

1. Posting payments for assigned Small and Midsize clients

2. Performing other job related duties as assigned or required like but not limited to clerical duties

Computer Skills and Software used:

1. Windows Operating System

2. All Practice Management Systems

a) Allscripts Vision

b) Caretracker

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the Cash Application Supervisor and Manager

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and Training:

1. Previous knowledge of Full-Cycle Revenue Management

2. High school diploma

3. Knowledge of payers guidelines to understand explanation of benefits

Skills and Aptitudes:

1. Ability to multi-task

2. Knowledge of medical insurance billing guidelines

3. Communications skills, both written and verbal

4. Able to set priorities and meet deadlines

5. Customer service skills

6. Organizational skills

7. Ability to draw conclusions and propose ideas

8. Work in a fast paced environment

9. Knowledge of Allscripts Vision, Caretracker and RealMed

Environment and Physical:

1. Be able to sit for a prolonged period of time
