Technical Manager

The Technical Manager is a working team leader responsible for leading technical resources to deliver the technology and process capability needed to maintain the site’s license to operate and to maintain and improve both manufacturing operations along with loading and unloading barges and railcars. This role is responsible for overall management of site technology information and the capital project process. The role interfaces with Operations and Maintenance and Reliability teams to drive continuous improvements to production rate, reliability, yield, variable costs, and sustainability.

The role is part of the site leadership team and reports to the Site Director.

The role manages and ensures professional development of engineers and technical staff and provides technical support to operations and maintenance. The incumbent interfaces frequently with the Global C3D Technology resources and the other plants.

Ability to effectively manage personal focus and priorities to deliver both the long‑term strategies for process improvement and plant optimization.

Maintaining expertise and staying up to date on Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP’s), and other industry standards continue to evolve and develop.

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and health requirements, which includes promoting and maintaining strong compliance culture across all areas of the Plant.
• Adherence to the SHE management system established for the Site including leading the development of the five year plan, incident reporting, incident investigations, sharing of lessons learned, and corrective action tracking in support of MOC and other PSM elements.

• Provides technical support to discussions and negotiations with consultants and vendors for technical services and products.
• Establish process improvement plans aligned with business needs and effectively communicate those plans to all stakeholders.
• Hold technical personnel accountable for results.
• Interface and share best practices with other sites and the C3D Technology group.
• Develops and manages a prioritized list of improvements to achieve yield, variable costs, sustainability, and productivity goals.
• Ensure improvement opportunities and programs are integrated into the Capital plan as needed to achieve business goals.
