Job Overview
The US Environmental Manager leads the Environmental departments at Bayport (Pasadena, TX) and Plaquemine, LA, contributing to SHE policies, procedures, and supporting programs. The role includes overseeing EH&S systems, compliance with federal, state, local regulations, product stewardship, rail safety, and transportation emergency response. A small staff of engineers and specialists reports to the Manager, who is responsible for permit filing, training, and community communication.
Responsibilities- Accountability 1: SHE – Provides strategic direction and direct supervision of personnel; establishes goals, mentors, and drives safety as a core priority by implementing the INEOS 20 Principles. Maintains environmental assets, ensures compliance with laws, certifications, and permits, and reports SHEQ metrics to site leadership. Leads cultural improvement and incident reporting systems.
- Accountability 2:
Manufacturing Excellence – Promotes safety, drives adherence to safety policies, conducts asset care tours and audits, ensures training compliance, and leads multidisciplinary teams to solve complex HSE and operational issues. Supports capital projects for the Long Range SHE Plan. - Accountability 3:
Business and Product Stewardship – Coordinates transportation events, oversights SHE specifications for EO railcars, and provides guidance on environmental aspects of product stewardship.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering. - Experience:
10+ years in a chemical manufacturing or refinery setting, 8+ years in compliance permitting and regulatory management, and 3–5 years of supervisory experience. - Technical
Skills:
Knowledge of worker safety regulations, environmental management system design, local and federal EH&S regulations, industrial hygiene, process safety management, and advanced regulatory affairs (EPA, OSHA, DOT, etc.). - Behavioral
Skills:
Exceptional communication, strong role modeling, program management, team building, customer focus, innovation, courage, results orientation, accountability, trust, and integrity.
- Light work: up to 20lbs occasionally, 10lbs frequently.
- Periodic exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
- Requires visual and hearing acuity suitable for reading documents, computer screens, and operating in noisy environments.
- Inspection report quality and behavioral safety culture improvement.
- Monthly participation in Safety Meetings across Operations, Logistics, Office Personnel, and Maintenance.
- SHE performance:
Zero incidents; ≥99% compliance for EPA, GMP, DOT, OSHA; 100% training and progression compliance. - Achievement of departmental annual training and performance goals.
