Diesel Truck Mechanic

Job Description Job Summary

The diesel truck mechanic is responsible for maintaining the diesel equipment in the fleet while ensuring all safety requirements are met. This includes repair and preventative maintenance on equipment as necessary to ensure proper operating condition.

• Perform all types of repair and PM work on tractors and trailers
• Perform standard vehicle maintenance
• Perform standard component inspections and repairs
• Perform preventive maintenance and warranty work on equipment
• Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replace defective components as instructed
• Perform facility maintenance duties
• Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT)
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace
• Abide by and provide feedback for continuous improvement of all EHSS policies, procedures, and safe work practices
• Additional duties as assigned

• Air conditioning and brake certifications
• Previous experience with engine and electrical diagnostics
• Driver’s License Required, Class A CDL Preferred
• Previous welding experience preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Post-secondary vocational education strongly preferred
