Clean the Pecos Police Department, to include offices, conference rooms, restrooms, kitchen, break rooms, parts of the jail:
The job description/summary of duties listed below is meant to serve as a guideline as to most of the duties expected to be performed by the employee functioning in this capacity. It is in no way to be considered all‑inclusive, since there will, from time to time, be tasks and responsibilities assigned to maintain the daily operations of the building.

Works under the immediate supervision of Chief of Police.
SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNone.
Example of Duties- Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and steam clean carpet.
- Dusts surfaces, washes glass surfaces, cleans, and polishes furniture and woodwork.
- Cleans and disinfects and replenishes restrooms and fixtures.
- Collects trash and disposes in outdoor receptacles.
- Sweep sidewalks and pick up outdoor area.
- Maintains and cleans janitorial equipment; maintains inventory of cleaning and other supplies for area of responsibility.
- Moving, unloading, shelving of boxes of paper in Copier Room (Help of moving, lifting, etc. is available upon request and should be utilized).
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Walking/Standing is needed to perform most job tasks on concrete, tile, carpet, asphalt, or grass. Most distances walked are short distances from 5 to 20 feet, but may be up to several hundred feet. Lifting/carrying boxes of garbage bags and a mop bucket including water, up to 15 lbs.; frequent moving and distributing of computer and copier paper onto shelves, 30-50 lbs.
Reaching overhead on step ladder to clean desks, cabinets and sinks, to obtain cleaning agents from shelves. Handling of boxes of garbage bags, cleaning objects (mops, vacuums, cleaning materials); objects to be loaded, unloaded and replaced (garbage bags, paper products, soap). Bending to perform most cleaning activities. Pushing/Pulling to operate mop bucket and vacuum cleaner, Twisting to perform most cleaning activities;
Crouching to clean toilets;
Foot Controls to turn on vacuum. Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, materials and equipment and reports to Supervisor any replacement of supplies and/or materials and equipment as needed. Regular attendance required.
Vacuum, broom, mop, mop bucket, steam cleaner, dust cloth, trash bags, electric blower, and other items related but not listed.
Environmental FactorsThe job risks exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, fumes and/or noxious odors, and toxic/caustic chemicals.
Protective Equipment RequiredRubber gloves, safety glasses, work gloves.
Minimum Qualifications- Formal
Education:
High School graduate or GED - Experience: 2 years in general housekeeping
- Other Requirements: Pass physical and drug test
- Skills Reading: Able to read English i.e.: cleaning solution directions
- Writing: English/Spanish
- Math: Performs basic math in measuring cleaning solutions
- Reasoning: Performs routine work using common sense and safety
- Managerial: Organize work; prioritize tasks
- Interpersonal: Self‑motivated, work without close supervision
