**** A day in the life:
*** Participate in all phases of bridge maintenance and repair.
* Perform minor surface repairs including pothole and concrete patching and small inlay work.
* Assist with weather related emergencies and operate snowplows, deicer trucks and other equipment to clear snow from roadways.
* Operate a variety of heavy and light equipment and tools required for maintenance and repair of various surfaces.
* Construct and place rigging and scaffolding.
* Build false supports of wood or steel to safely secure structures or traffic during repairs.
* Remove, fabricate, repair and replace damaged or worn steel bridge members using welding techniques and equipment.
* Draft, read, interpret and carry out projects utilizing detailed plans such as field drawn sketches or bridge design construction plans.
* Perform traffic control through maintenance and construction projects.
* Must be able to walk, stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time and may need to lift up to 60 pounds.
* May need to be available at any time (days, overnights, weekends, holidays) for emergency, on-call and weather-related purposes.
