The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Performs the role of GI endoscopy technician on all interventional endoscopy, as well as on all general endoscopy cases. Assists the interventional endoscopist in all procedures and provides high quality assistance in the endoscopy suite. Assists with the preparation of endoscopy procedures, anticipate physician needs during endoscopy procedures, and assists with the clean-up of the endoscopy suite. Assists in the cleaning and sterilization of the endoscopes.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
HS diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
One year acute care experience with minimum nine months experience working in acute care GI endoscopy unit.
Other Credentials: AHA BLS. Non-Licensed must obtain before end of orientation period
Knowledge and
Skills:
Ability to deal with multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment. Possesses advanced knowledge of aspects of interventional GI endoscopy procedures including ERCP, EUS, enteral stenting, and endoscopic mucosal resection, and ablation of Barretts esophagus. Proficiency in handling specific equipment and accessories used in interventional GI endoscopy procedures. Proficiency in improving room turnover time
Special Training:6 months training in interventional endoscopy. On the job training with related healthcare experience specifically in interventional GI endoscopy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Assists physician and RN with endoscopic procedures as directed by the interventional endoscopist or circulating RN, where appropriate. Assists the circulating nurse with implementing a plan of care to include positioning, confirmation of procedure, care of specimens, and room turnover.
* Anticipates the need of the interventional endoscopist, using knowledge of endoscopic procedures, which includes passing instruments and other items appropriate to the procedure. Assists the interventional endoscopist in operating accessory devices and instruments under the direct supervision of the endoscopist.
* Establishes and maintains an organized field. Ensures procedure room is kept neat and clean throughout patient procedure.
* Maintains log books for Cidex solutions, scope tracking and scope usage. Demonstrates appropriate set up of equipment. Handles equipment with care and realizes value of equipment. Accepts responsibility for keeping equipment properly functioning. Performs basic trouble-shooting for equipment and instruments when not functioning properly.
* Properly identifies patient prior to transport following established Capital Health guidelines. Transports Endoscopy patient safely to the Endo Suite, providing patient comfort and privacy at all times.
