are you a strategic leader who thrives on driving organizational excellence and shaping the future of a growing community? The city of peoria is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking deputy city manager to work collaboratively with the city manager and department directors to lead city operations and guide department strategies, to support the initiatives of the city manager and city council.
this is a critical role and requires a leader who can translate vision into action, align departments around shared goals, and deliver results that seek to improve the lives of city of peoria residents.
the deputy city manager will:
- partner with the city manager and executive leadership team to implement organizational strategies and achieve city-wide goals. Establish and drive strategic objectives, communicate effectively with elected officials, respond to requests for information, provide leadership and direction to staff, and participate in city council meetings to support informed decision-making;
- provide executive oversight for assigned departments by aligning departmental objectives with the city’s strategic direction. Direct administrative and operational activities, develop and review budget requests and agenda materials, authorize expenditures, participate in recruitment and selection processes, oversee personnel actions, prepare operational plans, and ensure effective administrative management;
- foster strong relationships with residents, businesses, board and commission members, regional partners, and the broader community. Represent city management and elected officials in public and intergovernmental settings, address concerns and resolve issues, participate in collaborative initiatives, and ensure clear, responsive communication with stakeholders.
