Pay & Benefits

Expected pay for this position is $26.99 - $31.75/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is an Hourly position.

Position Summary

Operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment, compressors, generators and steam boilers, to provide for utilities, such as light, heat and power for refrigeration, air conditioning and other services for the hospital. This position requires detailed knowledge of and the ability to operate and maintain the facility's major mechanical systems, i.e. heating, cooling, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, communication, and fire protection.

Shift: 2nd Shift: Monday-Friday; 2:00pm-10:00pm

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years relevant boiler plant, central utility plant, industrial operations, or equivalent experience required

Other Skills/Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.
  • Knowledge of plant operating principles, utility flow relationships, and alarm response expectations.
  • Ability to recognize abnormal operating conditions and elevate appropriately.
  • Strong shift handoff, log‑keeping, and operational communication skills.
  • Ability to work safely around rotating machinery, pressure systems, and utility hazards.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, on‑call, or emergency callback as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hospital central plant or critical utility operations experience.
  • Experience with steam, chilled water, hot water, water treatment, or BAS/alarm monitoring systems.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    Applicable operator licensure or certification required where mandated
