Job Summary
The Security and Loss Prevention Expert (SLP Expert) is a key leadership position within the Amazon Security and Loss Prevention (S&LP) team. This role leads the effort to efficiently and effectively provide End-to-End (E2E) S&LP services across all assigned operational business units. This position reports to the SLP Cluster Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Identify vulnerabilities and conduct root‑cause analysis using data to define mitigating actions while ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Actively monitor and report on outcomes for systems and tools that generate data indicating site/region opportunities.
- Manage confidential investigations and prepare prompt reports of theft, fraud, and workplace violence/critical incidents.
- Utilize continuous improvement to drive process enhancements and increase efficiency.
- Serve as the department’s liaison and security/crisis‑management subject‑matter expert, keeping site leadership informed on key issues, strategies, and performance.
- Identify, promote, and implement security best practices while effectively partnering with internal customers to evaluate current and future security needs, processes, initiatives, incident response planning, facilitation, and management.
- Travel domestically regionally up to 50% of the time when applicable.
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach; stand and walk for up to 12 hours during shifts; work in environments where noise levels vary and can be loud; work in variable temperature and weather conditions (delivery stations include outside loading departments); continuously climb and descend stairs (applies to sites with stairs).
- Cover 24/7 operations and work all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Worldwide Operations Security (WWOS) is the global organization that supports field Loss Prevention and is designed to support Amazon’s Worldwide Operations, as well as affiliate and retail businesses, by creating and maintaining a work environment that is both prepared and secure through global security centers of excellence staffed by subject‑matter experts in people and asset protection. We accomplish this by creating policy and implementation guidelines;
training leadership and staff; using technology to eliminate subjectivity, complexity, and variation; identifying, preparing for, and mitigating risk; and auditing our practices to ensure compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 4+ years of relevant professional or military experience.
- 2+ years of security service, loss prevention, asset protection, investigations, or law enforcement, or 2+ years of Amazon (Blue Badge/FTE) experience.
- Experience in implementing metric‑based strategies utilizing continuous improvement concepts.
- Experience in physical security systems maintenance/implementation and coordinating scope of work with security vendors.
- 2+ years of operational experience in risk management, audit, data analytics, inventory control, quality assurance, retail, warehouse, distribution center services, delivery service, or supply chain.
- Investigative interviewing experience; certifications such as Wicklander and Zulawski, Loss Prevention Qualified, Certified Protection Professional, Loss Prevention Certified, Certified Forensic Interviewer, Certified Threat Assessment Certification, or other relevant certifications.
- Workplace incident mitigation or de‑escalation and business continuity planning experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including use of Excel pivot tables and development of charts/graphics.
