The OpportunityThe Assistant Vice President, Workers Compensation plays a key leadership role in driving operational performance, underwriting excellence, and team development within Tangram’s Workers Compensation division. This person ensures that daily execution aligns with strategic priorities, maintains underwriting quality, and supports initiatives that enhance profitability, efficiency, and growth. The ideal candidate brings a blend of operational insight, technical acumen, and leadership maturity — someone who can turn strategy into action, data into decisions, and people into high-performing teams.
WhatYou’ll Do Operational Leadership & Execution
- Translate departmental goals and priorities into clear, actionable work plans for teams.
- Oversee daily workflows to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with company and carrier standards.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and scalability.
- Identify operational challenges or risks and communicate them to the EVP with thoughtful, solution-oriented recommendations.
- Track and analyze key performance metrics such as production, loss ratios, rate achievement, service SLAs, and team outputs.
- Leverage dashboards and reports to provide leadership with data-driven insights.
- Support planning, forecasting, and goal setting by consolidating team data and analyzing trends in capacity, performance, and outcomes.
- Lead and mentor a team of underwriters, ensuring clear direction, accountability, and consistent execution.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous learning.
- Support staffing plans, onboarding, and professional development to ensure the team is equipped for success.
- Oversee underwriting operations for the Workers Compensation portfolio, ensuring quality, compliance, and consistency in all submissions, quotes, and renewals.
- Assist with program management, including rate and form updates, appetite reviews, and partner communications.
- Monitor underwriting results and collaborate with leadership to refine strategies and maintain profitability.
- Partner closely with Sales and Operations to ensure seamless coordination and delivery across teams.
- Support the rollout of new technology, systems, or process improvements.
- Represent the department in internal and external meetings, communicating priorities, progress, and insights with clarity and professionalism.
- Lead or co-lead special projects that advance team performance, technology, or growth initiatives.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and communications to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Provide regular updates to leadership on project progress, challenges, and outcomes.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $135,000. The offer will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
