About the Role

We are searching for an Accounting Operations Manager to step into a key leadership role supporting the accounting function within a multi‑entity organization. This is a newly created role designed to strengthen internal financial operations, drive consistency, and support the continued growth of the business.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this is an on‑site leadership role where you will oversee the day‑to‑day accounting operations while leading a team of Accounting Managers. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial processes, while providing structure, accountability, and direction across the team.

Location: On‑site in Peterborough, Ontario

Salary Range: $80,000 – $85,000/year

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Accountability

  • Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of Accounting Managers.
  • Provide clear direction, support decision‑making, and ensure alignment across the team.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Support team development, performance management, and capacity planning.

Accounting Operations & Oversight

  • Oversee full‑cycle accounting across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review and validate financial outputs, including monthly and year‑end deliverables.
  • Ensure consistency in accounting practices, processes, and reporting standards.

Financial Management & Planning

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Provide insights into financial performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor financial operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness across entities.

Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and inconsistencies across accounting workflows.
  • Implement and standardize processes to improve team efficiency and output quality.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance scalability as the organization continues to grow.

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Partner closely with leadership to support strategic and operational priorities.
  • Act as a key liaison between the accounting function and other internal teams.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on team performance, capacity, and financial insights.
What We’re Looking For
  • 6 - 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Experience in a multi‑client environment (accounting firm or similar).
  • Previous experience leading or supporting a team.
  • Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting and financial reporting.
  • Comfortable balancing hands‑on work with team leadership.
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Comfortable working in a growing and evolving environment.
  • Familiarity with cloud‑based accounting tools (e.g., Quick Books, Xero, Sage).
Nice to Have
  • Experience supporting teams through growth or change.
  • Exposure to process improvement or workflow optimization.
