Position Summary
Our client is seeking a QA/QC Manager to lead quality assurance and quality control activities for large-scale industrial construction projects focused on water treatment and process utility systems. This role is responsible for developing and managing project quality programs, ensuring compliance with project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements throughout all phases of construction.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing quality programs in industrial construction, process facilities, mechanical systems, piping projects, or similar environments and possess strong leadership, documentation, and project coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and maintain Project Quality Control Plans (QCPs).
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes and standards.
- Monitor construction activities to verify workmanship, installations, and materials meet approved quality requirements.
- Review construction drawings, submittals, shop drawings, and quality documentation.
- Identify quality concerns, investigate root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead planning and execution of project quality control activities.
- Coordinate and oversee inspections, testing activities, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Conduct site inspections and quality audits throughout all phases of construction.
- Review and maintain weld logs, pressure test records, inspection reports, material receiving documentation, and quality records.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and verify corrective actions are effectively implemented.
- Maintain inspection equipment, calibration records, and testing documentation.
- Support quality verification activities related to piping systems, mechanical installations, and process equipment.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Engineers, Inspectors, and Subcontractors.
- Participate in pre-construction meetings, project coordination meetings, and project closeout activities.
- Support resolution of quality-related issues while minimizing impacts to project schedule and budget.
- Coordinate quality audits, corrective action programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage punch list activities and ensure timely completion of quality-related items.
- Support coordination between construction, safety, engineering, and quality teams.
- Maintain accurate quality documentation, inspection logs, and project records.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for project stakeholders and clients.
- Ensure proper document control and record retention for all quality-related activities.
- Support preparation of audit reports, corrective action reports, and project closeout documentation.
- Provide leadership and direction to QA/QC personnel and subcontractor quality teams.
- Train project personnel on quality requirements, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote a strong culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Mentor junior QA/QC staff and support professional development initiatives.
- Facilitate quality meetings, welding reviews, lessons learned sessions, and training activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in construction quality control, quality assurance, inspections, or related project quality functions.
- Experience managing quality programs for industrial construction, process facilities, water treatment systems, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, quality documentation, and inspection processes.
- Experience coordinating inspections, testing programs, audits, and corrective action programs.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry standards such as AWS, ASME, ASTM, and related construction codes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Experience supporting water treatment, process utility, semiconductor, chemical, pharmaceutical, or industrial facility construction projects.
- Experience with welding inspections, pressure testing, and mechanical quality programs.
- Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), PE License, or equivalent.
- Experience leading multiple projects or large project teams.
- Lean Construction or Six Sigma experience.
- Japanese or Chinese language skills are a plus.
