Position Highlights:
The laboratory of Dr. Wondisford at the College of Medicine-Phoenix seeks an enthusiastic and motivated Research Technician III to aid in a research project focused on the metabolic regulation of thyroid hormone receptor in the hypothalamus using mouse models. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team within an outstanding facility for imaging, flow cytometry, bioinformatics, and other advanced approaches.
The position is part of a well-funded research program that offers the opportunity to contribute to high-impact publications. Candidates should have basic experience in a biomedical laboratory setting; rodent handling experience is advantageous. Detail-oriented, conscientious, and able to follow instructions with clear communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Enthusiastic applicants with experience in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry are encouraged.

Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct research projects by performing various experiments.
- Organize and maintain mouse models, including breeding, genotyping, and phenotyping of transgenic lines; may utilize in vivo experiments.
- Set up laboratory experiments or surgeries, including equipment and supplies, disassemble experiments, and clean facilities after experiments.
- Cryosectioning, immunohistochemical staining, and imaging of mouse brain tissues.
- Collect, prepare, and process biological samples (animal origin) such as brain, liver, muscle, and adipose tissues.
- Maintain sample and lab organization to ensure efficient workflow and accuracy in experimental procedures.
- Record information and maintain logs of experimental data for accurate documentation of Dr. Kwon's research.
- Prepare technical reports and summaries that include protocols and quantitative results to communicate findings with the team.
- Collaborate on development and refinement of new strategies, techniques, and instrumentation to advance research excellence.
- Aid in writing methods and results sections for abstracts and publications to disseminate research findings.
- Facilitate acquisition of lab supplies (inventory, ordering, verification) to ensure smooth operation of research activities.
- Maintain equipment operation by following instructions, recording usage, troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and contacting for repairs.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory safety, including biohazard materials and chemical waste.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline.
- Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection, and analyses.
- Skilled in organizing, analyzing, and evaluating data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Previous research experience in a biomedical project.
- Familiarity with mouse handling.
