SummaryThe Electrical Technician (Fire Protection) will be responsible for installing conduit, cabling, termination, fire alarm devices, QAQC, tracking, troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, inspecting electrical systems for the Fire Alarm System, and equipment on the Fire Protection System to ensure safe and efficient construction operation. You will support all areas of the Fire Protection needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install Fire Alarm Equipment/Devices
- Perform hands-on cabling, conduit install, termination, QAQC work on Electrical and Fire Protection System needs.
- Conduct weekly/monthly reports of electrical portion of the Fire Protection System inspection and maintenance as directed by supervisor.
- Conduct routine inspections of electrical portion of the Fire Protection Systems, equipment, and components to identify and address potential/existing issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance on electrical portion of the Fire Protection Systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems of the Fire Protection Systems and implement effective solutions to ensure uninterrupted facility construction and operations.
- Repair or replace defective electrical components of the Fire Protection Systems and Fire Alarm Devices, wiring, or portion of the Fire Protection System equipment as needed.
- Install and maintain electrical portion of the Fire Protection System, and appliances as needed.
- Collaborate with the Engineers team and other team members to plan and execute electrical or Fire Alarm projects.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, electrical codes, and NFPA requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical/fire alarm equipment maintenance and repair activities.
- Review progress reports, materials used and costs, contract payment application, and adjust work schedules as indicated by the reports.
- Review & reply RFI (Request for information) and change orders.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports for internal use and client communication.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other facility maintenance staff as needed.
- Respond to any emergency of the electrical portion of the Fire Protection System, any other Fire Protection issues, and perform necessary repairs promptly.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in electrical technology, NFPA requirements and best practices.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education / Experience- High school diploma/GED or above.
- 4-5 years of experience minimum as an electrician, or similar role.
- Completed apprenticeship program or relevant certification in electrical work, a plus.
- OSHA 10 certificate required.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, equipment, and components.
- Strong understanding of Fire Alarm Systems.
- In-depth knowledge of local & national electrical codes and NFPA requirements.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to use engineering software such as AutoCAD.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High level of attention to detail, and highly organized.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to effectively prioritize responsibilities depending on project needs. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, and employees.
- Ability to develop and maintain successful relationships with all levels of employees, clients, and subcontractors.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Ability to work in a construction site environment (trailer office).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- NFPA 70E trained.
- OSHA 30 Certificate.
- Spanish and Mandarin Chinese skills
- CPR/ First Aid Trained preferred.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. May be required to travel to other sites within Arizona to perform certain work functions.
