South Dakota Public Broadcasting is a statewide, joint radio and television network, that is also South Dakota s NPR and PBS affiliates. We seek an energetic, organized, and goal-focused professional videographer/editor with strong videography, editing, and lighting skills, who is familiar with multi-camera broadcast production. This role will creatively tell stories across our SDPB tv, radio, and online platforms. This position is a high-profile member of the SDPB entertainment team and will lead work on a statewide network for a discerning audience that appreciates and supports good local story telling and live event coverage.

This position will assist various producers with creating video packages on local arts, cultural, and entertainment topics (and other broader entertainment group productions) for broadcast and digital distribution. This position will also produce stories on their own in cooperation with the entertainment team goals.

Responsibilities
  • Lead work on a statewide network for a discerning audience that appreciates and supports good local storytelling and live event coverage.
  • Assist various producers with creating video packages on local arts, cultural, and entertainment topics (and other broader entertainment group productions) for broadcast and digital distribution.
  • Produce stories on their own in cooperation with the entertainment team goals.
  • Creatively tell stories across SDPB tv, radio, and online platforms using strong videography, editing, and lighting skills.
Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Proficiency with video cameras and lighting for television; editing video content.
  • Knowledge of multi-camera production processes and equipment.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends, stand for long periods operating video equipment, and lift 40 pounds.
Knowledge
  • Social media sites and ability to creatively post content.
  • Multi-camera production equipment and procedures.
  • South Dakota.
Skills
  • Work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced news situation and provide accurate information to our audience.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
  • Proficient with the Adobe software bundle or other editing software.
  • Video and audio editing skills.
Ability
  • Capture and edit both video and audio media to create feature stories.
  • Apply professional techniques to a production.
  • Assess lighting needs and set up accordingly.
  • Ensure proper shot composition and sequencing and edit work into a complete package to be presented across all platforms.
  • Work independently and with a team.
  • Know a story when you see it.
  • Travel overnight and across the state.
