Part‑time Instructor – Bicycle Mechanics
Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC) seeks a part‑time instructor to serve the Bicycle Technician Program. The instructor will report to the Director of the Bicycle Technician Program and the Executive Director of Trails Trade School and Construction Technology. The position requires teaching 3–11 credit hours of Bicycle Mechanics courses each semester with flexible scheduling.
Responsibilities- Teach the following courses: BIKE 1003 Introduction to Bicycle Mechanics, BIKE 1013 Basic Bicycle Mechanics, BIKE 1023 Bicycle Braking Systems, BIKE 1033 Bicycle Drivetrain Systems, BIKE 1043 Ball Bearing Systems, BIKE 2013 Bicycle Wheel Repair and Assembly, BIKE 2023 Suspension Systems, BIKE 2033 Electric Bikes, BIKE 2043 Service Department Operation.
- Facilitate and evaluate student learning; prepare course syllabi and outlines.
- Submit grades by established deadlines and maintain student records in compliance with FERPA.
- Attend college and department meetings and functions.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the division dean or department chairs, including training.
- Engage in professional development such as faculty evaluation, attending conferences, maintaining relevant credentials, and staying current with technological or pedagogical advances.
Rate of pay: $765 per credit hour.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience in bicycle mechanics.
- Industry certifications in bicycle mechanics or related technical areas.
- Teaching experience at the college level or in a technical training setting.
- Demonstrated teaching ability (top priority).
- Instructional experience and leadership experience at a community college (plus).
- Ability to use an online platform.
- Experience or interest in project‑based, service learning, or inquiry‑based learning.
- Familiarity with bicycle mechanics, repair, and maintenance: braking systems, drive trains, wheel assembly, suspension, electric bikes, retail, and service department operations.
- Frequent: manipulating items with fingers, keyboarding; lifting and using tools.
- Standing, sitting, walking.
- Repeated motion, talking, hearing.
- Professional office setting with moderate noise and controlled lighting and temperature.
- Occasional travel to storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations with variable conditions.
