Position Overview
North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) seeks part‑time and/or substitute instructors to teach Mathematics. The instructor will teach developmental and transfer level math courses, facilitate and evaluate student learning, prepare course syllabi and outlines, submit grades by established deadlines, and maintain student records in accordance with FERPA.
Responsibilities- Prepare and deliver instruction to students, including lectures and labs, on mornings, afternoons, evenings, or weekends as needed.
- Effectively employ suitable strategies to foster student learning.
- Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning.
- Maintain proper class‑related records.
- Contact students outside the classroom to relay information related to class work and assignments.
- Maintain current knowledge in the field.
- Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress.
- Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching.
- Support the academic area and college through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
- Master's degree or higher in Mathematics or a related area, with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Mathematics courses (or equivalent).
- Experience teaching in higher education.
- PhD or additional graduate hours in mathematics preferred.
- Demonstrated teaching ability is a priority.
- Instructional experience and leadership experience at a community college is a priority.
- Ability to use online platforms and deliver instruction online.
- Experience or interest in project‑based, service learning, or inquiry‑based learning is considered a plus.
- Knowledge of good laboratory procedures and government safety regulations regarding lab safety desirable.
- Participate in the faculty evaluation process.
- Remain current in academic or program discipline, including attending professional conferences and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.
- Receive training or stay current in technological or pedagogical advances that promote student learning.
- Participate in college professional development activities.
Rate of pay: $765 per credit hour.
Physical Demands- Frequently manipulate items with fingers, include keyboarding; sit, stand, walk.
- Constantly hearing, repetitive motion, talking.
