Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include teaching nights, weekends, and/or online instruction. Prepare and deliver instruction to students. Effectively employ a range of suitable strategies to foster student learning. Stimulate class discussions and encourage active learning in all students. Maintain proper class‑related records. Contact students outside the classroom due to student absence to relay information related to class work and assignments. Maintain current knowledge in the field, vocation or profession.
Promptly assess student coursework and apprise students of progress. Demonstrate an interest in using current and emerging technologies in the classroom and/or in online teaching. Curricula:
Support the academic area and College through other work normally expected of adjunct faculty members.
Associate’s degree in a related field. Minimum of 5 years in the construction industry at a supervisory level.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a related field or the ability to obtain by the position start date. Teaching experience in the use, installation, operation, performance, maintenance, and safety associated with tools and techniques in the Construction Industry with an emphasis on Construction Materials, Carpentry skills, Estimating, Scheduling, Construction Codes, and other areas. NCCER instructor certification or the ability to obtain by position start date may be required.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with leadership at a community college or educational institution is a plus.
- Demonstrated teaching ability is the top priority.
- Ability to use an online platform.
- Online delivery of instruction, use of technology for instruction, and experience or interest in project‑based, service‑learning, or inquiry‑based learning will be given special consideration.
- Knowledge of good laboratory procedures, governmental safety regulations regarding construction is desirable.
$765 per credit hour.
