Marion County Paving is a part of APAC-Central, Inc., a CRH company providing crushed aggregate and regional heavy highway/infrastructure construction services across Arkansas, Oklahoma, and southern Missouri.
Role SummaryAs a CDL Class A Heavy Haul Driver, you operate a lowboy truck to transport heavy equipment between company facilities, yards, and job sites, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.
Primary Responsibilities• Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
• Safely drive the truck and trailer, adhering to transportation laws, safety regulations, and dispatch instructions.
• Operate equipment to load and unload the trailer at each destination.
• Secure loads to the trailer using chains and binders, ensuring proper restraint for transit.
• Monitor vehicle gauges, investigate irregularities, and document issues for maintenance staff.
• Identify and report abnormal operations, equipment failures, defective materials, or hazardous conditions to shop personnel.
• Perform minor field repairs and regular operator maintenance to keep the vehicle in optimal condition.
• Transport materials and equipment as necessary for job completion or as directed by supervisors.
• Keep the vehicle clean and well‑organized inside and outside, following all prescribed safety rules and company policies.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date operator logs, time cards, mileage sheets, repair records, and any required documentation.
• Occasionally perform out‑of‑town deliveries or equipment pick‑ups as needed.
QualificationsTo excel in this position, candidates must be able to effectively and safely execute all key responsibilities listed above.
Skills andPhysical Requirements
• Proficiency with lowboy trucks, trailers, chains, binders, and heavy equipment.
• Frequent climbing, balancing, and tasks requiring physical agility.
• Regular sitting, climbing, and use of hand signals or equipment; occasional standing, walking, crawling, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, or reaching above shoulder height.
• Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 25–50 lbs.
• Work primarily outdoors, often in extreme weather and environmental conditions.
• Comfortable working in all weather conditions; exposed to job site hazards such as moving machinery, high places, airborne particles, and loud environments.
• Must have specific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, to operate equipment safely.
