Job Description
An employer is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract role that will be based out of Plano, TX. This individual will work onsite at a new facility that has been built specifically to design, build and test new restaurant equipment that will launch in stores. This engineer will participate in team stand‑ups to discuss objectives for the day then will work with the Fabricator and technicians to complete upgrades to their equipment.
This role will complete the design, testing and implementing work as they will lead the charge in making modifications to their equipment. It would be helpful if a candidate has also troubleshot different restaurant machines and is comfortable completing rebuilds/redesigns where they would work with CAD programs. They must be able to design all the way from concept to release of a full automated system on your own!
They will also develop and then release BOMs, drawing/model packages, and general engineering documentation. Lastly, they will perform root cause analysis and design then implement improvement/fixes during assembly or testing. Strong leadership and communication skills are also required!
- 10+ years of automation design experience
- 5+ years of experience being the lead designer – someone who has taken designs from start to finish on their own
- Previous experience working with automated machines or stations, incorporating steppers & servo motors and sensors
- Experience building prototypes to test designs with control and electrical systems
- Experience working with CAD Design programs – they are using Solid Works Any experience troubleshooting restaurant equipment like QSR machines
- Automated sorting or pick & place system design experience
- Food/Kitchen Equipment or Food Processing Equipment (especially if automated) or NSF & FDA requirements!
