We are currently looking for an Integrity Reliability Engineer to work with our Oil & Gas group in Houston Texas. You will work with close guidance and supervision to execute tasks and support Lead Engineers and Project Managers working on related tasks and projects.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform and report on integrity risk & reliability analysis using computational tools and techniques. This includes hands-on application of existing risk & reliability models (e.g. Monte Carlo simulations, Bayesian Network, Fault Tree, Decision Tree, Markov Chain) for integrity threats.
Plan for and achieve department goals and job accountabilities (e.g., periodical system-wide probability of failure analysis and stakeholders’ risk analysis case study requests).
Support continuous improvement plan for analysis tools, processes, and methodologies, as well as long-range integrity plan and optimization.
Provide broad and/or deep senior technical expertise and coordinate the work of a small team with strong focus on timely delivery of analysis products.
Develop new (or modify existing) tools for enhancing the analysis capability and efficiency using high-level programming language platforms (e.g. Excel VBA with @Risk, MATLAB/Octave, Python).
Conduct detailed investigations into pipeline segments and defects that do not meet integrity risk & reliability targets following existing processes.
Address stakeholders’ case study requests for informed decision support, including problem definition, data collection, application of standard assessment techniques, and communication of results. Support more senior team members for complex requests that exceed standard processes.
Lead in the documentation and effective communication of methodology, results, limitations, etc. to internal and external stakeholders for standard assessments.
Execute continuous improvement of different assessment tools and techniques through:Researching relevant literature;Collecting relevant data for feasibility analysis and system-wide analysis; propose improvement ideas for better data accuracy and data quality;Assisting with the automation and improvement of existing models.
Support the development and maintenance of processes, procedures, and work instructions.
Generate industry publications and technical reports.
Respond to ad-hoc requests from team members and stakeholders to support department objectives.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficient with MS Office Suite.
Working knowledge of statistical tools (e.g. Excel with @Risk and Power BI, MATLAB/Octave Statistics).
Fluent in scripting languages (e.g., VBA, MATLAB, Python) and finite element analysis (e.g. ABAQUS).
Critical thinking skills in technical engineering and risk & reliability analysis and project management.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal stakeholders, and external stakeholders in both formal and informal settings.
Strong verbal and written communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
Ability to effectively deliver self-directed tasks and stakeholder requests.
Ability to meet deadlines and deliver thorough technical analysis and recommendations.
Strong principles and values in safety and asset integrity.
Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License.
Prior to employment with Stantec, this position will require the successful passing of a drug & alcohol screen.
Relevant experience with risk & reliability assessment or statistical/probabilistic analysis.
Experience with pipeline integrity reliability models (e.g., historical based, quantitative Monte Carlo).
Post-graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., structural integrity, finite-element analysis, data analytics).
Journal and conference publications related to probabilistic/quantitative risk and reliability analysis.
Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) – American Society of Quality (ASQ).
Education and Experience
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in civil/mechanical/industrial engineering (or equivalent); Post-graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., structural integrity, finite-element analysis, data analytics) preferred
A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:Advanced statistics and data analytics;Pipeline integrity related projects and programs;Risk & Reliability analysis including statistical analysis, results interpretation, system modeling;Research-related projects requiring review of industry literature, interpretation of a variety data types, and generation of conclusions and recommendations based on findings.
Registered or eligible to register as a professional engineer.
Typical office environment working with computers at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
