Responsibilities

As a Submarine Waterfront Representative (Platform Mechanical), you’ll act as a conduit between the submarine waterfront, maintenance environments, and shipbuilders designing the future submarine fleet. You will provide expert waterfront insight, influence design decisions, engage stakeholders, contribute to supportability assessments, and support programme‑level decision making.

  • Provide expert waterfront insight into submarine design to ensure future platforms are maintainable, supportable and safe.
  • Influence design decisions by identifying risks and opportunities that affect through‑life support and availability.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including shipbuilders, OEMs, and customers.
  • Contribute to supportability assessments, applying operational experience across multiple systems and disciplines.
  • Support programme‑level decision making through clear communication and evidence‑based engineering input.
Essential Experience
  • Substantial submarine waterfront experience across multiple maintenance or delivery programmes.
  • Strong understanding of submarine systems support, deep maintenance or commissioning environments.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience influencing design or engineering decisions using operational insight.
  • Confidence engaging with industrial partners, shipbuilders or defence stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • HND, Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or comparable experience.
  • Additional vocational or professional engineering qualifications would be advantageous.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role.
