Principal SAP HCM Consultant
As a Principal Consultant, you will be a key player in the consulting team and subject matter expert contributing to different phases of the consulting lifecycle. You will be intensely involved in business process consulting; you will define the problem, propose and create the solution. You will also play an important role in the development, configuration, and deployment of the overall solution.
You will guide teams on project processes, deliverables and contribute to the proposal development, client training and internal capability building and help detail the project scope. You will have the opportunity to shape value-adding consulting solutions that enable our clients to meet the changing needs of the global landscape.
Travel may be required to project or client locations. This role may involve elevated access to Impact Level 4 (IL4) data and/or security requirements for handling controlled unclassified information (CUI) and sensitive data as defined by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Eligible candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents only.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
- At least 11 years of experience with Information Technology.
- May require travel to project or client locations.

We are seeking an experienced SAP HCM Functional Consultant with strong expertise in Production support and experience or readiness to contribute to S/4
HANA transformation projects. The primary focus of the role is to provide day‑to‑day support for live SAP HCM modules (PA, OM, Time, Payroll), while also assisting in the design, testing, and validation activities related to an S/4
HANA implementation.
- Provide L2/L3 functional support for SAP HCM modules: PA, OM, TM, Time , US Payroll, ESS/MSS
- Investigate and resolve production issues, payroll errors, and master data inconsistencies.
- Support payroll cycles, time evaluation, retroactive runs, and post-payroll processing.
- Work closely with HR teams to understand pain points and provide functional solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation: SOPs, configuration changes, and training materials.
- Support testing and rollout of support packs, enhancements, and security updates.
- Monitor integrations and interface jobs (e.g. benefits providers, time systems, tax systems).
HANA Involvement
- Collaborate with the project team for fit-gap analysis, data validation, and testing.
- Contribute to the functional design of HCM processes under the S/4
HANA Compatibility Pack. - Assist with transition planning, identifying dependencies between support activities and implementation.
- Participate in unit testing, UAT, and cutover support for S/4
HANA HCM streams. - Provide input into data migration activities, particularly around PA/OM/Time/Payroll structures.
- Minimum 8 years of SAP HCM functional experience in a support environment.
- Expertise in US Payroll, Time Evaluation, and master data management.
- Strong functional knowledge of infotypes, schemas, PCRs and wage type configuration.
- Experience working with business users and technical teams to troubleshoot and deliver solutions.
- Exposure to S/4
HANA, or strong understanding of the S/4
HANA HCM Compatibility Pack. - Familiarity with writing functional specifications and working with ABAP for enhancements.
- Experience with incident/ticketing systems such as Service Now, Remedy, or Jira.
- Direct or indirect experience with S/4
HANA greenfield/brownfield projects. - Knowledge of Success Factors integration (Employee Central, ECP).
- Familiarity with Fiori apps for HCM.
- Experience in data migration using LSMW or other tools.
- Understanding of security roles and authorizations in HCM.
Estimated annual compensation range for this role will be as follows:
- In CA, WA, NY, CO, MD, IL, MN, NJ, VT, MA : $114,000 to $167,000
- In Washington, DC : $106,000 to $147,500
