Role Summary
Responsible for all aspects of the store’s operations, including staffing, training, sales, and profitability. Leads the entire operation to ensure company standards and best practices are consistently met.
Essential Functions- Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches.
- Analyze store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance.
- Address any variance to company standards with appropriate action plans, partnering with the District Manager as needed.
- Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives.
- Accept special assignments as directed by leadership.
- Handle payroll administration, including daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting.
- Recruit, hire, train, and develop assistant managers, area supervisors, and non‑exempt associates.
- Use training and motivation to reduce store turnover and employ retention tools such as incentive programs, recognition, contests, and training.
- Address personnel and performance issues including coaching, warnings, discipline, and termination when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies, procedures, and all state, local, and federal regulations.
- Manage associate relations issues, consulting with the District Manager as needed.
- Lead all expenditures to stay within budget.
- Control payroll hours to plan and adjust to current business trends.
- Maintain adherence to company safety policies and protect associates and customers.
- Ensure all associates understand and execute emergency operating procedures.
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect, courtesy, and professionalism.
- Execute customer service programs and merchandise presentation through associate training.
- Supervise and coach retail associates to provide efficient and friendly service at registers, customer service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.
- Lead store associates in professional appearance and uphold the company dress code.
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Manage the store to ensure a clean, neat, easy‑to‑shop environment and maintain high housekeeping standards.
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching and task follow‑up.
- Present merchandise in accordance with company merchandising guidelines.
- Urgently manage merchandise processing to the sales floor within expected company timeframe.
- Train associates on loss prevention programs to achieve store shortage goals.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain a strong customer service presence, engagement, and heightened loss prevention awareness.
- Lead the annual inventory process including preparation and execution of inventory guidelines.
- Monitor mark‑out‑of‑stock policy and ensure proper administration.

- Five or more years of store management experience in a retail environment.
- High level of customer service.
- Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and communicate positively to associates at all levels.
- Ability to train, coach, and develop associates at all levels.
- Organize and prioritize tasks, develop schedules, and execute plans to achieve results.
- Fluency in English.
- Exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion.
- Work evenings and weekends.
Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC. Stand, walk, and move around store up to 100% of working time. Bend at waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, stoop, push, pull, and lift more than 25 lbs. Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders. Perform basic mathematical calculations.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesDirect supervision of assistant store manager, area supervisors, and all retail associates.
