Position Overview

Part-time Faculty Interest Pool in Ethnic Studies. This is not a specific open position; applicants may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments. The department will review the pool as needed during the Academic Year.

Responsibilities

Teach college-level courses in Ethnic Studies as assigned. This may include substitute instruction and full-term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Ethnic Studies
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Asian American Studies, Black Studies, Chicanx Studies, Native American Studies
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in any field plus a clear record of academic coursework, teaching, and/or publication in the field of Ethnic Studies such as:
    • Instructor of record for at least two college-level courses in Ethnic Studies; or
    • Primary author of at least two publications in the field of Ethnic Studies; or
    • At least 15 quarter credits or the equivalent of upper-division or graduate coursework in Ethnic Studies; or
    • Master’s thesis or dissertation employing an interdisciplinary approach to the study of race and/or ethnicity in the United States; or
    • Demonstrated engagement and ongoing commitment to Ethnic Studies programs, courses, and pedagogy.

This list may not be inclusive; other degree titles may be acceptable if they meet the criteria. The Program Dean in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair will recommend the applicability of a particular degree.

Employment Requirements

Official transcripts required within two weeks of the offer date. Credentials must be earned at a regionally accredited U.S. institution or an equivalent foreign institution. Transcripts from foreign institutions will be evaluated by agencies with good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Compensation

Newly hired Part-time Faculty will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determined based on the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab). Salary information is available at https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
