Job Description

• Develop protection and control design packages for new and existing substations
• Design relay protection schemes for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and breakers
• Create and review one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
• Perform relay settings development and coordination studies
• Design and implement SCADA, RTU, and communication systems integration
• Develop logic diagrams and control schemes for substation automation systems
• Perform grounding design and support related calculations
• Prepare material specifications, bills of material, and construction documentation
• Review vendor drawings and submittals for compliance with project requirements
• Support field activities including construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and physical substation design engineers
• Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards (IEEE, NERC, NEC, etc.) and client specifications

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in substation protection & controls design
• Strong knowledge of protective relaying principles and applications
• Experience with relay settings and coordination studies (e.g., ASPEN, SKM, ETAP)
• Familiarity with microprocessor-based relays (SEL, GE, Siemens, etc.)
• Experience developing P&C design deliverables and construction packages
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, communication protocols, and substation automation
• Strong understanding of power system fundamentals and substation design practices
• EIT or PE license preferred
