Job Description
- Develop protection and control design packages for new and existing substations
- Design relay protection schemes for transmission lines, transformers, buses, and breakers
- Create and review one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
- Perform relay settings development and coordination studies
- Design and implement SCADA, RTU, and communication systems integration
- Develop logic diagrams and control schemes for substation automation systems
- Perform grounding design and support related calculations
- Prepare material specifications, bills of material, and construction documentation
- Review vendor drawings and submittals for compliance with project requirements
- Support field activities including construction, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, and physical substation design engineers
- Ensure designs meet applicable industry standards (IEEE, NERC, NEC, etc.) and client specifications
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in substation protection & controls design
- Strong knowledge of protective relaying principles and applications
- Experience with relay settings and coordination studies (e.g., ASPEN, SKM, ETAP)
- Familiarity with microprocessor-based relays (SEL, GE, Siemens, etc.)
- Experience developing P&C design deliverables and construction packages
- Knowledge of SCADA systems, communication protocols, and substation automation
- Strong understanding of power system fundamentals and substation design practices
- EIT or PE license preferred
- Competitive hourly rate ranging from $75.00 to $95.00 USD.
