Function/Duties of Position

The PBM Pharmacist provides clinical support to OHSU Pharmacy Benefit Management Services. Support includes but is not limited to formulary management, coverage determinations, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee support, responding to clinical inquiries, and implementing clinical programs.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. Pharmacy or Pharm.D.
  • OR Board of Pharmacy - Pharmacist License
  • Pharmacy practice residency or three years equivalent work experience
  • 2 years or more in managed care, health plan or pharmacy benefit management setting
  • Drug therapy knowledge (Dosage, indications, side effects, etc.)
  • Contemporary medication use systems
  • Drug information through written and verbal consults as well as monographs
  • Interpersonal communication
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Supervisory concepts (for indirect reports)
  • Problem solving
  • The PBM pharmacist will experience competing demands and frequent interruptions from PBM Technicians, clients, members, and other health care professionals
  • Standing, walking, stooping, reaching, talking and hearing; must be able to work at a workstation 7-8 hours a day; must be mobile enough to travel to various pharmacy sites
  • Clarity of vision at 20 feet and 20 inches or less; adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus
  • Ability to handle 1 – 5 pounds by hand frequently; telephone, pager, copier, fax, scanner, personal computer/terminal, common application software
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
