Location: Portsmouth Shift Pattern: 12-hour shifts (4 on, 4 off), rotating between days (6am - 6pm) and nights (6pm - 6am).

The OpportunityAs a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, no two days will be the same. You will be the backbone of the Data Centre site, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, and efficiency. This is a highly varied and dynamic role where you will mix hands‑on M&E technical maintenance with crucial IT infrastructure support and contractor management.
Key Responsibilities- Infrastructure Excellence: Monitor, maintain, and optimise critical site systems, environment, and M&E infrastructure. Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to guarantee facility reliability.
- First‑Fix & Small Projects: Provide rapid first‑fix support on M&E systems and minor fabric repairs, whilst independently delivering small‑scale project works.
- Safety & Authority: Act as the Low Voltage (LV) Authorised Person on‑site‑planning, documenting, and safely executing electrical works with strict adherence to protocols.
- Contractor & Project Supervision: Oversee and coordinate third‑party vendors and engineers, providing technical guidance on larger, complex infrastructure tasks.
- Smart Hands IT Support: Bridge the gap between M&E and IT by assisting remote tech teams with hardware installs, cable management, reboots, and connectivity checks.
- Operations & Audit: Manage the ticketing system efficiently, capture precise asset data, and contribute to vital management reports and site audits.
You are a proactive, solution‑oriented engineer who thrives in a critical environment. You pride yourself on high standards of safety and love the challenge of keeping critical operations running flawlessly.
Essential Criteria- A multi‑skilled Maintenance Engineer with experience in critical, industrial, or commercial environments.
- A completed electrical apprenticeship (or equivalent), ideally backed by 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Comfortable with basic IT skills (including MS Word and Excel).
- Eligible for, or currently holding, National Security Clearance (SC Clearance).
- Flexibility to provide holiday and overtime cover to support your team when needed.
