We are looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join a friendly, quality nurse‑led service to patients attending a Walk‑in Centre/GP Surgery in Portsmouth. The role requires you to function autonomously and within your sphere of competency, whilst being supported by more experienced members of staff. You must be able to assess patients, plan their care, administer treatment and discharge them or refer them as appropriate to other healthcare professionals and/or seek advice and support from a more experienced member of staff.
This role requires an ability to work effectively as part of a multi‑professional team within a fast‑pace environment.
As a qualified Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Practitioner, you’ll be an expert in your field, providing holistic care by assessing, diagnosing, treating and discharging patients autonomously every day.
You’ll quickly become a vital member of our Centre and our managers will treat you as one, welcoming and using your input to continually improve our services.
Responsibilities- Assisting the nurse‑in charge to prioritise patient care and organising the workload.
- Supporting junior staff with supervision and development.
- Developing leadership skills.
- Knowledge of appropriate use of resources.
- Assisting in the orientation and support of new staff to the unit.
- Communicating and liaising with all health care staff.
- Ensuring that identified lines of communication are maintained with patients, colleagues and external agencies to demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity.
- Playing an integral role in ensuring that junior team members are aware of local and general Health & Safety matters, Clinical Governance and other ongoing issues, which arise including patient safety issues.
- Participating in clinical supervision; support and assist more senior staff in the supervision of junior staff, in accordance with Company policy.
- Demonstrating the ability to motivate and persuade others through advanced communication skills.
- Relevant post‑registration experience including experience in: an acute setting, primary care experience, or another related area.
- Experience of working within a multi‑disciplinary team.
- 1st‑level Registered Nurse with current registration with the UK Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) or registered with your own professional body.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Post‑registration qualification.
- Evidence of ability to work unsupervised.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
