Quality Assurance - QA/QC
Job Summary: Duties include, but are not limited to:
Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids such as blood, urine, and spinal fluid to determine presence of normal and abnormal components;
Runs and documents routine specimens;
Prepares specimens for testing according to procedure, which includes judging adequacy of submitted specimens following accept/reject policy criteria;
Selects correct quality control test to be used in daily testing;
Performs stat tests and timely notifies physician within upon completion;
Completes scheduled Quality Control/Proficiency Testing measure without error;
Performs assigned preventative maintenance within identified time frames;
Documents all results, quality assurance, and proficiency results in logbook;
Documents corrective action taken when quality control results are outside of acceptable limits;
Performs blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes;
Analyzes test results and enters findings in computer;
Verifies instrument function by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments and documents data;
Records any repairs in instrument logs, replacement, and maintenance needed of equipment; and inventories and maintains weekly reagent supplies to ensure adequate supply.
Requirements: Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science and 1 year of experience. Must possess American Society of Clinical Pathology Certification.
