Hiring Pay Range: $26.83 to $33.54 per hour
FLSA Status:
Non- exempt
Pay Grade: 110
Full Pay Range: $26.83 to $40.25 per hour

Position Summary:
Inspects permitted construction, both commercial and residential properties; ensures construction, whether new or remodeled, is built per code and municipal policy; and tracks and updates plans based on field observations. Performs plan reviews as assigned.
Essential Duties:
* Schedules timely inspections of construction.
* Performs field inspections of wiring, plumbing, foundations, structural integrity, and gas installations, constructions, or repairs according to permits and licenses issued.
* Records/logs inspections with notes regarding compliance/non-compliance in each area,
* Ensures licenses and permits are issued for all projects inspected; ensures conformance with all codes and building regulations.
* Performs field inspections to commercial and residential construction blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications for compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes; coordinates with other City units including the Fire Department to ensure construction is per plans reviewed for compliance with fire, zoning, and other building codes.
* Retrieves, utilizes, inputs, and manages inspection data within the permitting/inspection/plan review modules of established Department software.
* Answers questions about inspections; discusses issues/problems that arise with owners/contractors.
* Assists the Chief Building Official in performing inspections of structures that may be structurally compromised and other open cases proceeding through the building safety code violation process, as directed.
* Trains and oversees work of others as assigned; reviews daily work accomplishments.
* Performs various administrative functions as well.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education and/or
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required; six (6) years of journey level work experience in one or more construction trades; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Licensing, Certification, and Other Requirements:
Possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug test. Building Inspector certification from International Code Council preferred. Must possess a Building Inspector certification within twelve (12) months of hire.
