Position Overview
The Bursar’s Office Senior Enrollment Services Representative (SESR) is the primary point of contact for customers needing assistance from the Office of the Bursar, which provides student account billing and processes all funds coming into the College. This position is responsible for front‑of‑house operations, including front window and call center service. Daily tasks include payment processing, reconciling accounts, account review, and troubleshooting requiring knowledge of Financial Aid, refunds, and Records functions.
The SESR performs general clerical tasks as assigned by the Bursar or Assistants and collaborates closely with colleagues within the office and all departments, particularly Student Loan, Collections, Financial Aid, Records and Admissions. The SESR will also assist with supervision of student employees.
- Research and respond to Enrollment Services requests (both in‑person and telephone) concerning registration, records, student financial assistance, employment, billing, and collections.
- Collect payments, including checks for confirmation deposits, housing deposits, and outside loans and scholarships.
- Receive, receipting and balancing of money and checks with accuracy and speed.
- Record Enrollment Services’ transactions in books of original entry and post to ledger accounts from receipting, disbursement, expense, and appropriation records according to established account classifications.
- Reconcile Enrollment Services records with those of the University’s General Accounting Office and/or Grant and Research Accounting Office to ensure complete agreement of disbursements, receipts, outstanding orders, and balances.
- Process transcript requests, payroll authorization forms, promissory notes, and verifications of enrollment.
- Review financial aid applications for completeness and request missing information when necessary.
- Respond to verbal, in‑person and written requests, troubleshooting and resolving problems related to Enrollment Services.
- Disseminate information concerning fee schedules, payment plans, fee waivers, sanctions, and refunds, and assist in the dissemination of Enrollment Services printed materials and correspondence.
- Perform complex word processing, database, and spreadsheet functions.
Graduation from a senior high school, including or supplemented by completion of courses in commercial math.
ExperienceEmployment involving enrollment service practices, including the procedures and practices used in handling and accounting for the receipt and disbursement of monies; customer service; and use of word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.

Work Schedule:
35 hours/week, Monday through Friday, 8:30AM – 4:30PM, Office of the Bursar.
Required Qualifications
A familiarity with the broad range of principles, practices and techniques associated with enrollment services and computer systems used to support enrollment services; a working knowledge of the procedures and practices used in handling and accounting for the receipt and disbursement of monies; a working knowledge of the principles and practices of bookkeeping; ability to perform complex tabulations and arithmetical computations, accurately count and disburse money, and perform word processing, database and spreadsheet functions with speed and accuracy (40 net WPM – 5 minutes);
ability to deal courteously with customers.

Candidates selected for further consideration may be required to complete a practical exercise, which is a screening tool typically used to assess computer software skills specific to the job. Examples include but are not limited to Microsoft Word (mail merge, formatting, etc.), Microsoft Excel (charts, tables, formulas, etc.), and typing. Upon hire, a candidate may be required to arrange for an official transcript of the highest degree earned to be mailed or transmitted directly from the institution to RIC.
