Hours/Week: 40

Job Description:
The Web Designer is responsible for conceptualization and design of web design solutions from concept to completion. The Web Designer produces visual solutions to the communication needs of the Franklin Squires Companies, using a mix of creative skills and commercial awareness. Web Designers requires an imaginative flair, awareness of current fashions in the visual arts, working knowledge of the latest computer packages and an understanding of material costs and time limits, all of which can impact on the design.

The Web Designer at Franklin Squires will also be asked to assist in other projects, not directly related to the web. It is also expected that the Web Designer manage and track their time and efforts for multiple projects.

Appropriate medium and styles are selected in conjunction with the client's requirements, and by collaborating with the Art Director, and others. By providing quality visuals it is hoped the profit margins of the Franklin Squires will increase as potential customers become more informed or persuaded by the visual communication.

• The main activities of the Web Designer are:
• meeting clients to discuss their needs;
• interpreting the client's business needs;
• developing design briefs by gathering information and data to clarify design issues;
• thinking creatively to produce new ideas;
• using innovation to redefine a design brief and meet the constraints of cost, time and client;
• multi-tasking: graphic designers often work on more than one design brief at a time;
• using a wide range of media, including photography and computer aided design;
• producing accurate and high quality work;
• contributing ideas and design artwork to the overall brief;
• keeping abreast of developments in IT, web design, print, and particularly design programs.
• working well in a team, with printers, copywriters, photographers, other designers,
• account executives, website programmers and marketing specialists;
• working to tight deadlines;
• reporting to the Art Director;

Requirements:

• Creative thinker, open to idea exploration
• Positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a team-oriented setting
• A strong understanding of user-center design principles and web design best practices
• Excellent understanding of standard graphics/web applications (Photoshop, Illustrator,
• Must be results-oriented, customer driven, organized with rigorous attention to detail
• The ability to manage time effectively, and work on multiple project timelines simultaneously in a demanding deadline driven department
• Minimum 3 years professional experience
• BFA Graphic Design or related field preferred
