Make a meaningful impact by supporting students as a dedicated Visually Impaired Teacher in an engaging school-based setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about providing specialized instruction and adaptive strategies to help students with visual impairments achieve academic and personal growth. Collaborate closely with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized education plans that facilitate access to the curriculum and promote independence.

Qualifications & Desired

Experience:
  • Hold valid state certification in Visual Impairment or Blind Education
  • Experience providing direct instruction to children with varying degrees of visual impairments
  • Ability to assess student needs and tailor instructional materials for accessibility
  • Familiarity with braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with students, parents, and staff
  • Previous work in a school environment preferred
Responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional resources, including large print, braille, and tactile materials
  • Conduct assessments to determine students' functional vision and needs
  • Support classroom teachers in creating accessible learning environments
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as needed
  • Advocate for student inclusion and accessibility across the educational setting
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to program planning
