Under the supervision of the Director of Materials Management, the Materials Management Technician is responsible for receiving, storing, delivering, and replenishing supplies and equipment across the organization. This role ensures efficient stockroom operations, inventory control, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, the Technician supports mailroom operations, courier services, print shop tasks, and provides backup support for departmental functions as needed.

Order

Processing & Delivery
  • Print, pick, and deliver all direct orders and Stock Room orders to departments.
  • Track and obtain required signatures for order deliveries.
  • Deliver outside orders upon receipt.
Stock Room & Inventory Management
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and efficiency of the Stock Room.
  • Conduct regular stock scans and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Monitor and document out-of-stock, expiring, and substitute items using inventory tracking systems.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation, removing expired items and labeling accordingly.
  • Identify and report unused or excess inventory to the coordinator.
  • Submit requests for new or replacement Stock Room labels as needed.
  • Scan and replenish Med Rooms on Med Surg and Crash Carts in the ED.
Product Monitoring & Compliance
  • Track overstock inventory and manage appropriate storage locations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines for stock storage.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and hazard-free Stock Room environment.
Operational Support & Customer Service
  • Field department inquiries and elevate issues as needed.
  • Answer incoming calls and fulfill item requests.
  • Remain on-call for STAT deliveries.
  • Log inventory discrepancies and product outages in the tracking system.
  • Assist in processing and managing product returns.
  • Escalate stock concerns, product substitutions, and order issues to the Coordinator.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in inventory management, warehousing, or materials management preferred.
  • Computer proficiency required (Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license may be required based on departmental needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions in various formats (written, verbal, diagrams).
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including order entry, inventory tracking, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and move moderate to heavy objects regularly.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
